Hi there, I've been working as an accountant in a local general contractor company for the past three months. Before this, I was with another general contractor, and the reason I left was the overwhelming paperwork pressure. It's a real struggle when my previous boss asked me to find payment records for a subcontractor along with all the invoices they submitted. It sounds simple, but in reality, it's a tough nut to crack.
As an accountant, accuracy is crucial, but dealing with super complex situations like multiple contracts, change orders, contract invoices, regular invoices, reimbursements, vouchers, payments to suppliers, etc., was a real challenge. I had to scour through binders, emails (not just in my inbox), and bank statements to ensure all the records were correct. You can imagine how tough it was to get the job done.
The pressure became too much, and that's when I decided to find my current job. It turned out to be the best decision because my current company uses APARBooks software to handle all accounting matters. Simply put, what used to take me 8 hours in my previous job, I can now finish in just 10 minutes. All I need to do is record every invoice transaction, and like magic, I have all the numbers I need when my boss asks.
This is the first time I feel stress-free working as an accountant, and my job has become so much easier. I believe this is also the reason why my current company has such high revenue with just a few people handling paperwork, and everyone seems happy, rather than stressed.
